Some of our beautiful and musically gifted collective members have been inspired by our Giant 'Occupy' blanket to create a sound track to travel with it!
|Art Work with thanks to Mel Mepham|
As we are creating a patchwork blanket(click here)in Solidairty for the Occupy Movement, this compilation of protest music will be a tapestry of amazing and inspirational tunes.
The aim is to bring together local New Zealand artists to create a series of compilation CD's to support the Occupation movement. These CD's will contain a mixture of genres of New Zealand protest music. And will be sent across the world with a protest quilt being created in Wellington, New Zealand. In particular this project aims to give a stronger voice to feminist and indigenous rights.
If you are musically minded and would like to share a piece of your own music with the world or contribute how ever you can then please contact us and get involved!
There will be a series of CD's so if you don't have anything ready right now but would like to compose a track especially then you have time to do so.
Copies of the Occupy your Ears CD #1 are now available at Freedom Shop and Baobab, both on Riddiford Newtown.
Email us if you would like to arrange to pick up a copy from us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here are some photos and videos from our Occupy your ears pre-CD launch and Patch making workshop held at Baobab in February, An excellent day was had by all and we recruited many new craftivists!
